Economic responsibility for self

We should help our fellow man and strive to give him opportunity.  We help our family and friends.  Some folks have to depend on the help of others entirely.

But some small part of each of us is responsible for self.  I need to think about my whole economic life:  the end, the middle, and the beginning.  I need to provide for myself during all those phases of my existence.  I have a responsibility to do it.

What if there is no opportunity for me to make a living?  What if I am laid off my job?  What if I am too old/young/middle aged to get offered the job I want?  What if costs are too high?  What if my wage is too low?  What if the work is too hard?  What if someone steals from me?  What if I am disabled and cannot work?  What if I cannot keep up with my bills?  What if I spend too much?

In all cases that small part of us needs to take economic responsibility for self.
